The Parade of 1000 Flags commemorates the attacks of September 11, 2001. Ridgecrest Exchange Club began the Remembrance Field in 2005 and expanded to include the parade in 2008. The IWV Economic Development Corporation is again partnering with The News Review and Operation Family Fund in 2024 to ensure the continuation of this community-centric event.
This year there will also be a candlelight vigil on Wednesday, September 11 at sundown (7pm). Join first responders and community members at the Gazebo in Freedom Park to partake.
On Saturday, September 7, 1000 flag bearers will parade up China Lake Blvd to Freedom Park where the flags will be posted. A short program will follow. To sign up your group, call or email us, or just join us, Saturday, September 7 at 8:30 am at the Sierra Lanes Center, 634 S. China Lake Blvd.
